[SRI] Join the Space Renaissance Art & Science Festival in Berlin, 7-9 July!
Dear SRI Friends and Supporters,
the Space Renaissance Art& Science Festival at Archenhold Observatory in Berlin will take place from 7 to 9 of July 2022.
We would like to thank the Planetarium Berlin Foundation for giving us the opportunity to hold the festival at this historic location. We believe that the founder, Friedrich Simon Archenhold (October 2, 1861 – October 14, 1939)
would have liked the event to be held here. He dedicated himself to popularizing the natural sciences, especially astronomy. The Archenhold-Observatory was founded in 1896 and has not lost any of its attractiveness since then, with a length of 21 m, it has the longest refractor telescope on earth.
In the next few days we will hear many exciting lectures and see inspiring works of art. We want to build a bridge between art and science and enter into a dialogue.
We also commemorate Prof. Dieter B. Herrmann (January 3, 1939 - November 25, 2021), 28 years director of this institution and founding director of the Zeiss Grand Planetarium, honorary member of Space Renaissance International and of the association of the Archenhold-Observatory and Zeiss -Grand Planetarium. His name is also inextricably linked to the history of these two houses. He also dedicated his life to popularizing science and wrote almost 50 books. He opened many doors for us for this festival, for which we are grateful to him.
We would also like to thank the Support Association of the Archenhold Observatory and the Zeiss Grand Planetarium, Adriano Autino, Space Renaissance International, ILEWG LUNEX EuroMoonMars/ArtMoonMars, IAF ITACCUS colleagues and the numerous helpers and speakers for their support, as they contribute to the success of the festival with their voluntary work.
Registration to the festival is free, and it will be possible to attend in person or virtually, watching and interacting the Livestream on the YouTube Space Renaissance channel. The links to the sessions will be communicated during next days before the Festival.
